WordCamp Sacramento Russell Aaron

Get To Know Russell Aaron

Russell Aaron was born over the hill (literally less than an hour and a half away from WordCamp Sacramento) in Reno, NV. He is the Lead Organizer of WordCamp Vegas 2015 & WordCamp Nevada 2016! He is a User, Developer, Enthusiast and Designer of the WordPress CMS. First and foremost, he’s just a fan. This is not Russell’s first WordCamp presentation and it’s definitely not his last. Speaking at WordCamp Events and giving back to the local community is something that he loves to do. “The good ones sweat it. Because sweating it makes you one of the good ones.” — Merlin Mann.

We’re thrilled Russell will be speaking at WordCamp Sacramento 2015 on the top three contact form plugins.

Speaker Q&A With Russell

Why do you think forms are important?

The topic of my session for WordCamp Sacramento is about Contact Forms and the major differences in the top 3 contact form plugins. Contact forms are an important part of the any website and choosing the right one really depends on what you want/need to do with a contact form.

What is your history or experience with contact forms?

I’ve recently created a WordPress plugin to help style contact forms better/easier. I use contact forms all day long and I have a pretty awesome understanding of what each form plugin can and cannot do.

How did you get started with WordPress? Why WordPress?

I was building Band Layouts on MySpace, using the blogs on MySpace to talk and share my failures and triumphs. A friend of mine showed me WordPress.com and I started to blog over there. Once I had a few posts, the same friend put me on my own website (wordpress.org) and I never looked back!

What is your favorite thing about WordPress?

WordCamp! Seriously. I love traveling to other parts of the globe and meeting new people. I love the community and I think WordPress is, what it is, because of the community.

Can you share a couple WordPress plugins that you love or recommend?

I recommend the User Switching WordPress plugin to everyone. Have you ever tried to walk someone through the payment process of your own website, and it sounds like you don’t know what the heck you’re talking about? Well then let me introduce you to this plugin that lets you log in as the user and see your website, as they see it. It’s pretty awesome.

Resources or recommendations?

My recommendation is for everyone. MAKE A BACK UP RIGHT NOW, of your website, before it’s to late. That way, you can bring your site back from the dead and make your changes once again!
