Get To Know Greg Taylor

After working in marketing and business development for over ten years, Greg decided to pursue his passion for WordPress development and content marketing by starting his own company. Tired of seeing sites that look great but don’t achieve results, he founded Marketing Press to help business owners find the best of both worlds.

We’re thrilled Greg will be speaking at WordCamp Sacramento 2015 about the new age of content marketing.

Speaker Q&A With Greg

Why do you think content marketing is important?

Content marketing is the most effective way to position your brand as a subject matter expert. By disseminating good, helpful information — your clients and potential clients can understand how you can better help them solve their business challenges. WordPress is by far the best platform to publish your content. Without content — your site is a blank page.

What is your history or experience with content marketing?

Content has been the cornerstone of my professional marketing experience. Marketing Press enjoys working with all forms of content (photo, video, podcasts, blog posts) when it works towards the client’s goals.

How did you get started with WordPress? Why WordPress?

I first got involved with WordPress by collaborating on a skateboard blog with some longtime friends. From there I moved to my own blog, because I felt like I had something to say. After a while, it was a natural evolution to develop marketing strategies within the context of the WordPress frameworks.

What is your favorite thing about WordPress?

I love how WordPress levels the playing field and gives everyone an opportunity to exercise their voice. (A close second is definitely the WordPress community and the great collaborative friendships I have made over the years.)

Can you share a couple WordPress plugins that you love or recommend?

We love BackupBuddy, Widget Logic, and Advanced Custom Fields.

Resources or recommendations?

If you want to up your game — get involved. Show up at Meetups and WordCamps, make relationships and ask questions. More time than not, you will find someone in the community who is willing to help. Get in there and get your hands dirty.
